Consumer confidence for brands plunges to lowest ever level!

Consumer confidence has plummeted again, with more “bad news” expected as inflation rockets and UK unemployment hits a 50-year low. The latest GfK Consumer Confidence Barometer recorded a headline score of -40 in May, the worst since records began in 1974, and a 2% fall on last month. This means consumer confidence is lower now than during the “darkest days” of the global banking crisis. The lowest score previously was -39, which was recorded in July 2008. All but one of the five measures that make up the GfK index score dropped in May.
