Summer is slowly coming to an end, but it is not yet the end of delicious, colorful products in our gardens or nearby greengrocer's. If you think that eating fresh and healthy would soon not be possible, you couldn't be more wrong. Check out what should appear in your diet in August.
Pumpkin - rich in vitamins C,D,B1,B2,PP and minerals, contains folic acid and beta-carotene, seeds are a source of iron, magnesium and potassium
Rutabaga - rich in vitamins A,C,K, contains calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, iron, fiber
Eggplant - a fruit (yes it is!) that is excellent to combine with fatty meat, due to the fact that it lowers blood cholesterol levels
Chokeberry - contains a large amount of anthocyanins, source of vitamins C,E,PP, contains potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium
Elderberry - has antibacterial, antiviral, antioxidant properties
