This discrepancy is due to the fact that the main dashboard does not update on a regular basis.

If 30 people have subscribed to the customer database today. The number of contacts on the dashboard may be lower by these 30 contacts.

The number of people enrolled on a given day can be checked in real time in the "Contact list" tab → then you can check how many people have subscribed to the database on a given day.
